Everybody carving for free stuff!!! So do I. So, when its relate to blogging, what are free stuffs that we can get.

Lets admit. Being a Malaysian, between quality and free stuff, what will u choose? PLEASE, Be honest. Tell me. Please Comment. It has been a culture in Malaysia that they will always look for free things. Free mp3, free food, free movie, free ticket, and even free time.

During Tun Dr. Mahathir rule (haha) there was a campaign that expose Malaysian to the Virtual World/Cyber World or what ever they called that time. It was 1 computer, 1 house campaign. And that was how I get my own (family actualy) computer (It was Pentium II, 233Mhz lol). From there, I started to know the Internet. I’ve started blogging since earlier 2000. And that time during my school day. I was so eager to know and to learn about Internet and web stuff. That time, I even build my own website using Microsoft Freaking Word!! And host it at geocities. Well, it didn’t last long, since my internet bill reached 200MYR a month (which is a lot at that time + I’m still school student + its a freaking dial up). Okay, enough rambling, lets get to the topic.

Well, as a free server, we can’t really whine when there are lagging issues, but its seldomly happened (is it? haha). For now, I’m quit happy with this service, and hope that it will last longer *wink*

Wait a sec, you must be thinking why the hell am I going to trouble myself setting up a host to host my blog, as I can always use free blogging services, such as blogger, livejournal, wordpress.com, and even blogdrive. Well, as for me, using wordpress is most easiest + including the great feature and plugin that given, it help me to monitor + manage my blog easier. The development of wordpress is on going and they do really good job in supporting and maintaining the apps. And its totally free.

So what is wordpress and what make it different with wordpress.com? WordPress here means a publishing platform that focus on aesthetics, user experience, web standard and usability. What make it different with wordpress.com is, wordpress.com provide hosted wordpress platform, with limitation. By hosting the wordpress on our own, we get full access on the medium. We can alter the code, change to any themes that we wanted, plug in any plugins and etc. ;)
